Managing Exams and Assignments

Resources are available to help instructors create and administer exams, assignments, and assessments.

Respondus is an application for creating and managing exams that you can print on paper or publish directly to eLearning. You can either create exams offline or import existing exams from word processor files. Respondus works with StudyMate, which lets you create ten Flash-based activities and games using three simple templates. Activities can be uploaded to a web site or published directly to Vista. And if you are concerned that your students are searching the Internet while taking an exam or quiz, you can use the LockDown Browser to reduce the potential for students to find outside answers on the Internet or within your class. If you are interested in Respondus, email its@tamu.edu and follow the instructions that you will receive via email. Please do not allow unauthorized persons to use your copy of the software and do not distribute your installation password.

TurnItIn is an online database system designed to help instructors detect plagiarism in written assignments through word-matching. Students can submit papers directly from Blackboard Vista via a PowerLink. To access the TurnItIn web site services, contact  Instructional Technology Services.

For more information about these systems, contact Instructional Technology Services at 979.862.3977 or its@tamu.edu.
