Personal Firewall
A personal firewall can protect your computer from outside users accessing or deleting your files or even installing a virus. Although a firewall can prevent malicious intrusions, it can also stop certain necessary programs from running correctly. To allow those programs to run, you may need to open certain ports or explicitly allow certain types of Internet traffic to bypass the firewall. Personal firewalls are permitted, but be aware that they can cause network connectivity problems. The Help Desk Central web site provides more documentation on firewalls.
