Keeping Your System Up to Date

Your computer's operating system is one of the most important components of your computer. Keeping your operating system updated protects your computer from security threats including viruses and break-ins.

Updating your system regularly is important as new vulnerabilities are being discovered and exploited by malicious users. Updating your operating system can be as simple as clicking a button. Some operating systems allow automatic updates. When updates become available, your computer will automatically download the updates and ask you to install them.

To learn more about the update process, go to Keeping Your Operating System Updated on the Information Security web site.
