TAMULink Wireless
TAMULink is Texas A&M's campus wireless network that provides Internet and network access on the go. TAMULink is available at numerous locations on campus, including libraries, campus eateries, offices, and computing facilities. Only Texas A&M students, faculty, staff, and department-sponsored guests have access to TAMULink; it is not for general public or anonymous use.
If you have a laptop and want to take advantage of TAMULink, you need the following:
- Wireless Card
The wireless Ethernet card must be IEEE 802.11b/g Wi-Fi compliant for current wireless service on campus. Most new laptops come with a pre-installed wireless card. The newest wireless cards are usually 802.11a/b/g/n compliant, which lets you connect to TAMULink. If you need to buy a wireless card, they can be purchased at electronics retailers, office/technology suppliers, or computer stores. - WPA Set Up
TAMULink uses Wi-Fi protected access or WPA Enterprise, a security technology that scrambles or encrypts wireless traffic to protect information. WPA uses your computer's built-in system features, so no additional software is required for access. However, your laptop must be configured to be able to connect.
After setting up WPA on your computer, connect to the tamulink-wpa network and log in with your NetID and password. For detailed step-by-step connection instructions, plus information on wireless locations and FAQs, see the TAMULink web site.
If you need help setting up WPA, you can take your laptop to Help Desk Repair, an Open Access Lab, or contact your department's IT personnel.
