About Email Addresses

Your primary email address is 'yourNetID@tamu.edu'. This is the email address that is publically listed in the campus directory. The address for your TAMU Email mailbox is 'yourNetID@neo.tamu.edu'. You can set up your '@tamu.edu' primary address to deliver mail to any mailbox you designate, such as your TAMU Email or a departmental mailbox (if you receive one). See Activating Your TAMU Email Account for instructions for setting up mail delivery for your '@tamu.edu' address.

When you publish your email address, you should use your publically listed '@tamu.edu' address instead of your '@neo.tamu.edu' address or your departmental email address (if you have one). Read Editing Your Directory Information for more information.

You can also add two extra email addresses to your '@tamu.edu' address. These are not separate NetIDs, and they are not extra email accounts. They are simply other addresses that you can use to send and receive email. All messages you receive go into the same inbox as your primary '@tamu.edu' address. With two extra addresses that go to the same inbox, you do not have to bother with logging in to multiple email accounts throughout the day.

You can use extra email addresses for different sets of contacts, like work and friends. To add or edit extra email addresses, go to the Aggie Computing Gateway and click Edit Directory. Click the Edit button next to the "Email Addresses" section. Then click the Add Email Address button to begin adding an extra email address.

Note: Official university email lists only use your primary email address, not any of your extra addresses.
