VPAPIT and its departments are affiliated with a number of campus, state and national initiatives providing expertise, leadership, support and resources.

The VPAPIT and members of CIS, Telecommunications, and TTVN play an active role in the development of the Lonestar Education and Research Network (LEARN). LEARN is cooperative effort of 32 institutions and organizations of higher education in Texas working to provide high-speed, fiber-optic connectivity among their institutions as well as to research networks around the world.

Part of CIS and VPAPIT, Texas A&M's Supercomputing Facility is a member of the High Performance Computing Across Texas (HiPCAT) consortium. HiPCAT members are Texas institutions that use advanced computational technologies to enhance research, development, and educational activities. The Texas Internet Grid for Research and Education (TIGRE) is a collaborative project of HiPCAT university consortium, which will integrate the computing, visualization, and storage systems of HiPCAT institutions.

Members of TTVN, CIS, Telecommunications, ITS, and the VPAPIT are part of Texas A&M's contingent promoting Internet2. Internet2 is a consortium led by 207 universities, including Texas A&M, working in partnership with industry and government to develop and deploy advanced network applications and technologies.
